bulletIn 2001/2 we started  mini soccer (for boys and girls) and we now have teams from U6 to U15. Girls soccer is now being developed.  Our values are similar to those for senior soccer:

- more overt emphasis on enjoyment and fun,
- patience with youngsters as they develop at different
  rates,
- proper soccer games on the right scale for the age
  group,
- build confidence in competition, and
- encourage an ethic of mutual respect.

bulletParent's help and membership

In building the junior section, the keystone is again organisation and we expect some help from parents in return for honorary membership and our voluntary effort:

bulletassistants (male or female) for the coaches and participation as new coaches to carry on the youngest sides (coaching courses available),
bulletkitchen helpers to prepare and (where appropriate sell food),
bulletKit shop organisers - we would like to start a kit shop for the sale of new and used equipment,
bulletCommunications - someone to help with a newsletter, and
bulletFirst aiders - each age groups needs some parents trained in first aid and we hope you will step forward to help .

What children can expect from adults

CHILDREN CAN EXPECT ADULTS NOT TO:

bulletAttempt to ‘coach’ or ‘manipulate’ the players while they are playing
bulletShout, swear, become violent or use sarcasm
bulletIgnore children who need help
bulletAttempt to ‘referee’ the game by appealing for freekicks, offsides etc.
bulletAssess players by their incompetence
bulletAbuse or argue with the referee or linesman

BUT CHILDREN CAN EXPECT ADULTS TO:

bulletPraise effort and performance more than results
bulletLook for aspects to praise in players who might not otherwise get attention
bulletGive them clear examples of excellent behaviour
bulletShow consistency
bulletAssess players with regard to their skills and attitudes
bulletPraise good behaviour quickly to show adults value it
bulletHelp, encourage and support

REMEMBER: CHILDREN DO NOT MEAN TO MAKE MISTAKES
