Player Profiles

James Brooker   One of just three founder members left from the original U12 side. A great shot stopper the big man can switch defence into attack with his booming kick outs. Very popular with his team mates James also puts in a great deal of time behind the scenes helping his dad and club treasurer Mike Brooker.

Samuel Gervais The epitome of the ‘unfussy’ keeper, like all great goalies everything looks so straightforward for Sam due to his excellent almost instinctive positioning and mega safe handling. Was magnificent in the New Windsor Plate competition.

Perry White       Berkshire County sprint champion over 100 metres and it shows whenever Perry goes on the overlap, one of three new signings in 2006 from Taplow Boys Perry has already settled into the back four like he’s been there for years.

Joe Chomiak      Joe ‘the toe’s partnership with Josh Terry has been the bedrock of the team’s success in recent years. Undoubtedly the hardest tackler in the league, Joe chips in with more than the ‘occasional’ near post goal from corner kicks.

Josh Terry  The skipper and the ‘Guvnor’, a real leader and the consummate defender. This lad can tackle like a ton of bricks, wins just about everything in the air, runs the back line, encourages and spurs on his team mates and if that isn’t enough he’s comfortable on the ball as well, quite happy bringing the ball out of defence. Probably the best defender in the league last year along with Joe, Josh captained the plate team to victory in July.

Harry Tythe    Another new signing in 2006 Harry is already showing great promise as a utility defender, over six foot tall and powerful he can play left back or centre back and takes no prisoners in the tackle. He has already justified taking the step up from his previous club and has not looked out of place at a higher level.

Stephen Murphy.  One of the three founder members and the baby of the squad. Stephen hasn’t let the fact that everybody else is a year older than him stop him staking his place in this side. A cultured left back, a member of the plate winning team, his composed performances have recently earned him trials at Reading.

Ben Nathan.  Ben turned up for training at the last minute last year and we almost let him go as the squad was already too big. A last minute change of mind from management was probably the best decision made last term.  A highly intelligent skilful player with a great temperament, silky smooth on the ball.

Niki Dibart.  The ‘cavalier’, exceptionally skilful and quick, Niki was just pipped for leading goal scorer last year by Dan Fleet, an absolute nightmare for defenders to mark as nobody (often including Niki) knows what he’s going to do next!!  King of the drag backs and nutmegs, a joy to watch. The star of the plate winning side.

Suki Bains   ‘The Enforcer, midfield ball winner who’s forte is a crunching tackle and the simple pass, another who has resisted the influx of new players to maintain his place in the squad, Taplow’s answer to Claude Makalele.

Jamie Romaine.   Jamie came into the squad mid season from Division One Maidenhead Magpies and made an immediate impact with his intelligent passing game. Scored the goal which probably won Taplow the league when the team were losing at 3-1 at Uxbridge and looking down and out. Jamie’s 30 yarder on the stroke of half time turned the game on it’s head as we beat our great rivals 5-4.

Jordan Lee Brown.  Another signing from Taplow Boys. Jordan has skill to burn, is impossible to mark, totally unplayable as New Windsor Bluebirds discovered when he scored the winner in the Plate final. Jordan is currently training at Crystal Palace, this young man has a great future.

Sam Welland.   One of two signings from Maidenhead Magpies, equally comfortable in any position down the left, Sam’s pace, tenacity and trickery make him a manager’s dream. Another member of the plate winning side he has already made a huge impact in the friendlies

Will Furmage.  Another Magpie to make the trip across to Berry Hill. Will was being courted by all of the ‘big clubs’ but chose Taplow United as the team who are ‘going places’ A truly exciting footballer with terrific pace and skill, he has a shot like a mule, you almost feel sorry for the members of the right back association. Almost…..

Dan Fleet   What more can you say about last year’s leading goal scorer (in the entire league) who when we’re short  plays in goal (in a pre season friendly against Cookham Dean) and keeps a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw!! Dan ‘the hit man’, his electric pace is a defenders nightmare, anything down the channel looks like turning into a goal and very often does when Dan’s about. The third founder member along with Stephen and James.

Asher Majeed.   A big man with a big reputation in local football. Over the years Asher has scored plenty of goals past assorted Taplow goalkeepers, in fact he’s scored scored plenty of goals against EVERY goalkeeper. A ‘goal machine’ with every attribute, size, pace, great first touch, aerial ability and aggression. What a treat to finally have Asher in OUR corner.

Akash Rattu.    For those old enough to remember the late great Jimmy Johnston that sums up the type of player we have with Akash. Immensely skilful and quick we keep looking for the growth spurt which will finally allow Akash to compete physically against big defenders and get him into contention for a regular starting place. His link up play with Asher in the friendly’s underlined what we already knew, that this lad has bags of potential which will be realised as soon he puts on the inevitaie:  ble few extra pounds and inches.

Elliot Christie:  Since rejoining the club Elliott has is done a fantastic job with the loss of regular keeper Sam Gervais through a nasty injury sustained against Burnham Juniors in October. The big man has won plaudits throughout the league for his exceptional bravery and shot stopping. Even more remarkable when you consider he almost won the leading goalscorer aware last season playing left midfield. Welcome back Els!
