Harefield Utd 9 Taplow Utd U10 Minors 0

Slough Mini Soccer Friendly Scheme
30 March 2008

Taplow U10 Minors U10's finished their league campaign with a loss against top of the table Harefield. Missing 3 key players Taplow battled well and held out for the first 15 minuets with Keeper Joe Pilcher making many fine saves to keep Harefield at bay.  Harefield went in 2-0 up at half time with Taplow pleased with their effort.

The second half saw Taplow tire. Failing to close the Harefield long shots down saw them concede further. Keeper Pilcher again pulled out save after save but in the end the percentages took over.

Taplow started with a positive attitude, they were led at the front by Fraser Roberts, who kept the Delaford defense busy. In the first half Delaford managed to push through our midfield and defenders to put 2 past our keeper.

In the second half Delaford got off to a strong start, only to be put under pressure by Shane Pearse who took the ball from there Strikers, beat the midfield and slip the ball to Ethan Lacey who made the final score 4- 1, all the lads enjoyed the game, the referee ( Darren Gotch ) was supplied from the Delaford team, who was fair, and the support was friendly.

A difficult 1st away game for the Youth team who only had the minimum 7 players available and who came up against a well organized Delaford team.

The team made a slow start and failed to pass and move as before and were caught by Delafords quick breakes leaving them 3-0 down at half time.

In the second half the team started stronger and had several good chances to score themselves all coming from more positive passing play.

7 players tired but all worked hard for each other and restricted Delaford to a single goal in the second half.

A 4-0 loss but a far better and committed second half from each of the players

A confident Taplow side were looking forward to another victory after their success last week against Slough Eagles  Playing on their home pitch at Bells Hill, Taplow, the Team started brightly with good possession and resolute defence.

After 10 minutes a superb individual piece of skill  by Michael C saw Taplow take a well deserved lead.  Burnham responded with a new energy and only for Thomas's efforts in defence Taplow remained one up at half time.

After the break Burnham attacked with vigour and finally broke the Taplow defence.  A midfield battle followed with Michael P and Jordan linking well, leading to a great cross by Michael P to give Michael C an easy tap in for his second.  Burnham never gave up and eventually got the deserved second goal.

2- 2, a fair result after a great match.

Well done to all the parents for keeping their nerve!!??

A beautiful sunny autumn morning at Kedermister Park Langley was the stage for the U9s (north) first match of the season. Playing against a spirited Slough Junior Eagles side Taplow knew this was not going to be an easy match.

Taplow went down 1-0 after 10 mins after a pressurised attack from Slough caused an unfortunate own goal by Oliver Tibble.  Shortly after, Taplow equalised with a great goal from Ethan Lacey assisted by Jordan Sullivan.  The second half was a midfield battle with little chances falling to Taplow.  Slough kept attacking but great defence from Michael p and sound goalkeeping from Oliver kept the score at 1-1.

Five minutes from time saw a Slough player handle in the box giving Taplow an opportunity to secure the match.  .Ethan Lacey confidently walked up to take the penalty and successfully beat the Slough keeper.

Slough had a goal disallowed from a corner kick one minute from time  to give Taplow a hard earned victory.
