Harefield 1 Taplow Utd 0

Slough Mini Soccer Friendly Scheme
9 March 2008

Taplow began the game passing well and took the game to Harefield.  Good work down both flanks by George Taylor and Reece Deary exposed the Harefield defence and led to a number of opportunities for Tom Gayter and Thomas Garner.   Harefield amassed in numbers to suppress the Taplow attacks and Harry Williams aided by the defence was able to deal with the sporadic forays of the home side.

The second half was a different story as Taplow tired and the passing became less accurate and purposeful.  Harefield spent most of the remainder of the game camped in Taplow's half ably resisted by Tom Gayter, .Alex Protopapadakis and Brandon Leitch.  Cameos from Kristian Monteiro and Joshua Orsman helped the elder boys, but in the end a solitary shot evaded the clutches of Harry Williams to seal the win for the home side.

18 November 2007

On a cold and breezy day Taplow Utd’s youngsters struggled to get going and failed to string many passes together and were repeatedly hit on the break.  Tom Gayter came closest to making any impact on the New Windsor goal and Archie Phillips, Thomas Garner and Alex Protopapadakis did their best to repel the home team’s,  attacks but it was a day of cold limbs and poor concentration; and one on which Taplow Utd found it difficult to stem the tide.

11 November 2007

Taplow Utd’s entry squad continued their steep learning curve against an eager Harefield side.  The Taplow youngsters played well with George Taylor then Tom Gayter keeping goal adroitly.  Archie Philips and Brandon Leitch tackled with gusto and the game turned on a few breakaways. Taplow Utd’s chances were restricted by the need to defend their goal but Thomas Robertson broke free on a couple  of occasions but was denied his opportunity to score.

A lone goal from Tom Gayter was all Taplow could muster against a strong Burnham side.

The inexperienced Taplow side were overrun form the beginning as Burnham burst  through in numbers threatening the Taplow goal. Only inaccurate shooting delayed the home side's advance, but eventually they exposed Taplow's uncertainty in tackling and inability to play round the melee in the middle of the pitch.  Taplow kept battling away but were reliant on breakaways.  Having come close on a couple of occasions they eventually scored a deserved goal.

Hillingdon Saints 3 Taplow Utd U7 0

28 October 2007

Taplow Utd came close to scoring several times themselves but could not squeeze the trigger quickly enough when amongst a stalwart Hillingdon defence to get their just rewards in an entertaining game of end to end football.

Playing a man less than their opponents Taplow ran tirelessly attacking Hillingdon from the off.  Half chances fell to Tom Gayter and Thomas Garner  as they drove at the hom sides goal.  Hillingdon came close with a few break away chances at the other end but Harry Williams was quick to narrow the angle or collect the ball.

As the game wore on Taplow's numerical disadvantage began to count and Hillingdon broke through, despite Archie Phillips and Brandon Leitch's strong defending and George Taylor's accomplished performance in goal.  It took resilient defending from the home side to stop Tom Gayter and Thomas Garner in the second half but the crosses and surging attacks did not quite produce the goal the team so thoroughly deserved.

Taplow Utd gave a good account of themselves battling New Windsor every step of the way until half time.

Brave goalkeeping by Harry Williams kept and resolute defending by Brandon Leitch and Thomas Garner kept New Windsor at bay until two quick breakaways allowed them to get ahead.  Tom Gayter pulled one back for Taplow Utd and they were just unable to convert their attacking runs into goals.

The second half proved  a test of Taplow Utd’s stamina and is it ran out Harry Coles in goal found himself subjected to repeated attacks which his  defence could not repel.  An enjoyable game and more valuable experience for Taplow Utd’s newcomers.

Taplow Utd short of few regulars put up a better performance against Burnham finding gaps in the visitors defence but succumbed to a few sucker punches as on their third game they could not quite get to grips with stopping the oppositions forward runs.  Good play by George Taylor, Archie Phillips and Thomas Garner Almost resulted in the team’s first goal but Burnham defended stoutly and managed to prevent the final shot.  Oscan Wallis and Brandon Leitch did a sterling job in defence and Taplow were grateful to Burnham coach John McAteer for lending them a couple of players on the day

7 October 2007

Taplow Utd in only their second competitive game showed good application and determination exposing the Eagles defence on numerous occasions but were unable to convert more than once.

Tom Gayter finished off a strong run with a good shot in a fairly even first half.  As the second half wore on Taplow's tackling became a little more ragged and Eagles benefited from strong solo runs to score several times.  Good performances from all concerned .
