Taplow United U15 Youth 12 Burnham Juniors Reds 0

Gary Newson 3, Brad O'Brien 3, Tyler Beard 3 and Ben Harvey 3
Slough Soccer Combination
27 January 2008

Burnham battled gamely until the very last kick of the game but were completely outgunned by a rampant Taplow. The division one side simply had too much for their opponents from the division below, amazingly there were no less than FOUR hatricks as Taplow cruised into the next round. Goalscorers were Gary Newson, Brad O'Brien, Tyler Beard and Ben Harvey all helping themselves to 3 goals, Gary Newsome was superb all day just being edged out of the MOM award by Ben Harvey who worked the left flank tirelessly giving the Burnham full back a torrid afternoon. Taplow have yet to concede a goal in this competition so well played the defence too, superbly marshalled yet again by Tom Proudlock.

Slough Soccer Combination
13 January 2008

Taplow haven't played a competitive match since Novemeber and it showed, their pre Christmas run of good results sadly coming to an grinding halt on Sunday at Datchet Recreation ground. To be fair two of the goals five goals conceded were outrageous deflections from OUTSIDE the box but in truth Slough Youth whilst certainly enjoying the rub of the green, deserved their win. Taplow applying early pressure deservedly took the lead through Bradley O'Brien after good work from Gary Milership. Slough struck back with two quick goals but Taplow ounced back and finished the first half level when Bradley scored a second goal coming after a fantastic 70yard box to box run from Nathan Shamuyrira.

Slough took full advantage of the strong wind in the second half dominating much of the possession. Highlights from the second half were few and far between for Taplow but Stephen Murphy filling in at centre back had a good game in trying circumstances, as did the ever improving Fergus Newsome at right back and quicksilver striker Gary Millership, all were in with a 'shout' for man of the match until Bradley O'Brien made it a foregone conclusion by notching his third goal to complete a fine hat trick, well done Brad.

24 November 2007

Taplow Utd are 'down the the bone in numbers', the squad have lost three players in recent weeks and ultimately this cost them dearly against a very good Britwell side.

For 30 minutes Taplow 'blitzed' their opponents, playing their best football in recent memory and opened up a 2-0 lead through Brad O'Brien and Chay Harris. For half an hour Taplow literally played their opponents off the park playing high tempo attacking football. Britwell whilst shocked, showed their class and to their credit hung on in the face of the storm. Relentlessly they clawed their way back into the game and in a crazy 15 minute spell scored 4 goals against a tiring Taplow side.

Taplow have much to be proud of despite defeat with, and with couple of sorely needed additions to the squad will be a force to be reckoned with in League Division One.

Tom Proudlock was dominant in at centre back, just edging Nathan Shamuyarira and Ben Harvey for the man of the match award.

A clinical finish from 'Big Bad' Brad O'Brien separated the two sides. Whilst tackles were coming in hard and fast and no quarter was asked or given, the match was played in sportsmanlike spirit and was a credit to both 'camps' .The midfield battle was fierce and intense and ultimately where the match was won with both Stephen Murphy and Tyler Beard absolutely outstanding! However three fantastic saves in the first half broke New Windsor's hearts, capping a brilliant performance from Sam Fynn in goal and just enough to edge him man of the match in front of Stephen and Tyler.

The side are desperately thin on the ground and need three players to compliment the nucleus of a VERY good squad.

Taplow Utd won a hard fought victory over Slough Youth in a fiercely competitive match played in dreadful conditions. Chay Harris edged the man of the match for his tireless and disciplined performance in midfield although the ever dangerous Gary Millership with two wonderful finishes ran Chay close and had every right to feel hard done by. Nathan Shamuyarira returning from injury was a constant threat all afternoon and his efforts were finally rewarded with a brilliant third goal for Taplow. When called upon Sam Fynn was immaculate in goal aided and abetted by a rock solid defence in which Tom Proudlock was outstanding.

Their was an injury scare late on when a doctor was almost called as people became increasingly concerned at the size of the smile on Taplow Manager Mike O'Brien's face, thankfully he confirmed it was nothing serious but it could take a while to wipe it off.

After 2 seasons of great effort ,Taplow Utd U15 Colts managed to gain their first point from a league game.

In a home match , against a strong Maidenhead Magpies team, Taplow Utd showed great character to come back after falling behind early in the second half.

The home team equalized through a fine strike from Jack Doherty after a good corner from Taplow Man of the Match Daniel Kalinowski and then held on for a draw thanks to some strong defending and brave goalkeeping from Sam Manton.
