Taplow ended
their season on a high with a comfortable win against Highmoor Ibis reserves.
Goals from
Charles Mpi (3), Richard Jones (3), Rob Haynes (2), Matt Druce, James Murdoch,
Micah Oboh, Hassan Mirza, and Billy Jawandha earned the team the 3 points to
take them to the magical 40 point mark for the season.
In the past
this points total has been enough to earn an invitation into the senior
league, but the team now has a nervous wait while the league officials decide
on their constitution for next season, and whether Taplow are worthy of
promotion.
The result was
the culmination in an excellent season for this young team who have now added
consistency to the flair that they had. In the past Taplow have wilted during
the second half of the season, but this year the team have shown a desire to
gain promotion and a willingness to graft out results that was previously
lacking.
 Manager Billy Jawandha was keen
to point the positive influence of the newcomers to the squad, and the
improvement in the performances of the regulars from last season, following a
clearout of some deadwood during the close season.
This leagues
campaign has been Taplow’s best for a few years particularly considering the
quality of the division, and continues the club's drive to regain senior level
football.
