 Late withdrawals, a reshuffle, new personnel: none of this augured well and so it proved.  Taplow were caught unprepared but also played somewhat naively.  Playing up the slope compactness was a necessity. 
Instead we witnessed a midfield estranged almost divorced from its defence and Sonning, a big powerful side broke down the hill like waves of Huns vanquishing all before them, leaving the young parentless and the surviving shell-shocked and maimed.  Only Jay Thompson had an answer, big strong fast he counterattacked single handed and did everything but shoot past the goalkeeper, several times.

At half time order was restored, the basics spelt out and the Taplow army regrouped for battle.  This time it was one nil to the maroons but other chances were snuffed out by the retreating yellows or spurned by an inability to execute good chances again.  Once they turn up with their shooting boots Taplow have a chance.  Solid midfield play, good wing play and resolute defence goes rewarded otherwise.
