Taplow Utd Vets cruised to a win to regain the annual trophy from the Racers with a deft Dan Bisset chip, an intelligent header from Phil Luckwell and a Dave Salisbury penalty.

Taplow Utd began well and played some composed passing football attacking Racers down the wings.  Phil Luckwell and Dan Bisset ran amok exposing the Racers defence, but Captain Conway found himself unable to outpace the stalwart Dick 'dastardly' Stratton.  Unfortunately the final ball or shot lacked a bit of quality and inevitably the first goal almost came at the other end as a ball bounced back from the Taplow post and John Head-Rapson's blocking tackle ended with him going to ground and appearing to handle the ball.

Tom Williams missed the spot kick only to find some minutes later a penalty was awarded at the other end as Dan Bisset was chopped down driving toward goal.  Dave Salisbury came forward from goal to score leaving Tom distraught.

Perpetual Taplow pressure was not rewarded until a cross from the right bounced awkwardly and Phil Luckwell timed his jump to loop his header over the unfortunate Russ Carter in Racers' goal.

Racers came back to take advantage of some missed challenges and poor cover to pull a goal back.  As the old legs tired the game inevitably opened up and Taplow were again making heavy weather in the final third until Dan Bisset picked up the ball drove to goal and and with the outside of the foot chipped the ball over a despairing Russ Carter.  Several substitutions disrupted play and the game petered out as a spectacle.  Racers took advantage with another goal but were unable to close the gap.
